🌍 Starting a business is a whirlwind of challenges, and it's easy to overlook important commitments‼️, such as protecting our environment and creating a more equitable world for everyone. But I knew, as a business founder, that I didn’t want to look the other way and justify it simply by saying I was 'too busy' 🙅♀️🕥 But HOW?
✨ Then, last year, I met Matt Williams, co-founder of Greenspark 🌱, at the Sifted Summit. This encounter made it possible for me to finally turn my intentions to contribute to environmental and social causes into reality, all in a simple way that didn’t require the time I honestly didn’t have 😓.
👏 And I’m proud to share that since last year, What a Host Home has been collaborating with Plastic Bank ♻️ through Greenspark. Plastic Bank is an organisation dedicated to cleaning our oceans of plastic waste, boasting an impressive track record of removing over 16 million kilograms of plastic from our oceans 🌊 For every sale at What a Host Home, we rescue 2 bottles from the oceans to help create a cleaner world.
✅ What I particularly liked about Plastic Bank, compared to other available initiatives, is that its approach goes beyond just removing plastic from the ocean; it also tackles poverty by empowering local communities with economic opportunities📈. Once PlasticBank rescues these bottles, they are cleaned, sorted, and repurposed into valuable materials, fostering local business growth and community support. Their program has positively impacted over 11,000 collectors and their families.
➕ My motto is that together, even a small contribution can make a meaningful difference 🥰
Special thanks to co-founder Lenny Leemann, who played a crucial role in making our onboarding process smooth and efficient. I’d also like to acknowledge Ranya D., our current Customer Success Manager, who is always available to support us.
